Client Testimonial Shoot FAQ: Everything You Need to Know Before We Roll

Getting ready to film a client testimonial? Whether you’re the one being interviewed or helping coordinate the shoot for your company, you probably have a few questions. We’ve produced hundreds of these videos, and over time, we’ve noticed the same ones come up again and again. This post will walk you through everything you need to know—from what to wear to how long it takes—so you feel confident and prepared when the cameras start rolling.

⏱ How Long Will the Shoot Take?

For a single interview, we typically need about 60–90 minutes on-site. That includes time for unloading gear, setting up lights and audio, conducting the interview, and capturing a bit of supporting footage (known as B-roll). If we’re filming multiple interviews at one location, we’ll coordinate a schedule ahead of time to keep things efficient.

👚 What Should I Wear on Camera?

Here are a few tips to help you look your best:

  • Solid colors work great—avoid busy patterns, stripes, or small logos.

  • Neutral or rich tones (like navy, olive, burgundy, or soft blues) usually look best on camera.

  • Avoid all-white tops or bright neon colors.

  • If you wear glasses, we’ll adjust lighting to minimize glare.

  • Choose something you’d wear to an important meeting—comfortable but polished.

Ultimately, wear what makes you feel confident and reflects your personality or brand.

🎤 What Kind of Questions Will Be Asked?

Our interviews are always conversational—this isn’t a test or a performance. We’ll guide the conversation with open-ended questions like:

  • How did you first discover [company/product]?

  • What challenge were you facing before working with them?

  • How has your experience been?

  • What results have you seen?

  • Would you recommend them to others?

You don’t need to rehearse anything. In fact, we encourage natural, unscripted responses. We’re here to make you sound great—and we’ll take care of editing out the “ums,” pauses, and restarts later.

🎥 How Big Is the Crew?

We typically work with a small, nimble crew of 1–3 people depending on the shoot. This allows us to stay efficient, flexible, and non-disruptive—especially if we’re filming in a busy office or shared facility. Everyone on our team is professional, respectful, and focused on creating a comfortable, stress-free experience for those on camera.

🎬 What If I’m Nervous On Camera?

That’s totally normal—and we’ve got you. Our job is to create a relaxed environment and guide you through the conversation. You don’t need to look at the camera or memorize anything. Think of it like chatting with a colleague about something you care about. Most people are surprised at how comfortable they feel once we get rolling.

🎞️ What’s B-Roll and Why Do We Capture It?

Alongside your interview, we’ll capture B-roll footage—visuals of the product or service you’re talking about. This might include shots of the product in use, close-ups of key features, or footage of your team interacting with it. B-roll helps bring your words to life, giving the viewer a clearer picture of what makes the product or service so valuable. Instead of just telling people about your experience, we show them—and that visual context makes the testimonial more impactful, polished, and persuasive.

📦 What Happens After the Shoot?

Once we wrap, we’ll handle everything from backing up footage to editing the final video. You’ll receive a draft version to review and provide feedback before final delivery. We’ll also include B-roll or supporting visuals to make the testimonial even more engaging.

🤝 Collaborating with Your Clients, On Your Terms

When producing testimonials for our clients, we understand just how valuable their customer relationships are—and we treat them with the same level of care and professionalism. Whether you want to be hands-on with scheduling and communication or prefer to simply hand over a list of contacts, we’re flexible and happy to adapt. Some partners stay closely involved throughout the process, while others trust us to handle interviews and logistics independently. Either way, we approach every project as an extension of your team, working to represent your brand with respect, clarity, and authenticity.

💬 Still Have Questions?

We’re here to help. If you’re scheduled for an upcoming shoot and have questions about timing, location, wardrobe, or anything else—don’t hesitate to reach out. Our goal is to make this as smooth and enjoyable as possible, and to capture authentic, high-quality testimonials that reflect your experience and story.

Great testimonials build trust, highlight real impact, and help future customers make confident decisions. Thanks for helping us bring yours to life.
